The Virgin Media advert in front of the METRO of Today Tuesday 20th August, 2013 made my advert of the day.
Apart from the copy, the photograph was the most attracting feature of the advert. Previously, Virgin Media has used Usain Bolt and Mo Farah as their Brand Ambassadors and I would have expected them to repeat the sane advert just shortly after their success at the just concluded World Championship in Moscow but they went another route successfully to re integrate their Brand.
The copy reads: ‘Don’t sign for the wrong team.’ Reinforcing the fact that BT sports is now included in their premiere and VIP collections at no extra cost. This is more like a dig at Sky Sports, their main competitor – The wrong Team.
The image of Peter Crouch, the tallest player at 6ft 7in (excluding goalkeepers) in the English Premier League was a good choice, taking into consideration his height and probably skills as he looks lost in the Team photograph.
The full Page front cover advert on Metro ( and previously on Sunday Telegraph) appeared good enough to integrate the Brand as the Premier League gathers speed.
But to ponder more, I wonder why they had to have two teams for the advert, guess he kept making the same mistake of signing for the wrong team?
However, I liked the idea and it is not unexpected that the response so far on social media has been positive and hope it’s transferred into sales for Virgin Media.
